5. Consumer Reporting & FCRA

When you apply for membership, we obtain consumer reports (including background checks) about you in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You have the right to know if information in a consumer report is used against you, to access your consumer file, to dispute inaccurate information, and to seek damages from violators. If your application is declined based on a consumer report, we will provide you with an adverse action notice including the name and contact information of the reporting agency.

Sensitive data such as government IDs and bank credentials are handled directly by Stripe Identity and Stripe Financial Connections — we do not store raw copies. Full property addresses are not publicly displayed on room listings. The exact address of a room is only shared with a renter after their booking is confirmed and an active lease is established. This protects the safety and privacy of both hosts and prospective renters.
